Be at One is definitely not just another cocktail bar. The menu at this stylish bar beneath the Barton Arcade lists well over 100 drinks. But don’t worry. It’s surprisingly easy to navigate, with each cocktail categorised by size (long, short or on the rocks) and the type of spirit used. So whether you feel like tequila, rum or gin, or something different from the wide selection of spirits, there will be something for you.

And if you’re still spoilt for choice, the staff are more than happy to offer their advice and recommendations.

At the centre of the menu is a top 10 selection of drinks with illustrations so you can see some of the most popular for yourself. There’s classics such as the Porn Star Martini made with vanilla vodka and passion fruit with a shot of prosecco on the side to creative combinations involving champagne and pomegranate like Killing Monica.

A graphic on the menu helps you choose the perfect drink for you. It’s like using a colour wheel for choosing paint – only this one helps you pick the right cocktail for you. Starting at the centre you choose your spirit then the flavours you like such as fruity, sweet, refreshing and sour (there’s so many more) with suggested drinks at the side.

If you want to be adventurous there’s even a Be At One app – ready to install on your smartphone – providing your own personalised appi hour. This inventive option can mix things up by suggesting a cocktail at random whilst also featuring the ultimate guide with over 190 recipes.

From classics with a twist such as Lychee Martini and Straight Up Strawberry Daiquiri, to favourites such as Amaretto Sour and even ice cream options – with one including Reese’s chocolate for that ultimate sweet fix – these are cocktails at their most inventive.

And they can be good for you too. Look for the little leaf symbol on the menu which indicate the ‘virtuous’ options which include the new Beetroot Retox and Almond Mocha made with almond butter, almond milk and raw chocolate powder delivering a protein punch.

There’s a strong selection of non-alcoholic cocktails and if you’re in need of a bite they have teamed up with Pizza Express on King Street to offer you pizzas with advance reservations.

If the huge choice isn’t reason enough to have another drink, then the deal will be. There’s a 2 for 1 Happy Hour from 4.30pm to 8pm Monday to Wednesday and from 4.30 to 7pm Thursday to Saturday. Sunday is extra special with the deal lasting till midnight so you really can finish the weekend in style.

Along with the atmospheric low-lighting and combination of cosy booth and high seating, the passion of the team behind the bar at Be At One Manchester is an invitation in itself.

You can go surprisingly far in this basement bar – working your way through the cocktails can have a whole evening sorted. Why not sample it for yourself?
