You might have thought burgers were past their sell-by date, but Mancunians should be excited about Honest Burgers arriving in the city this spring.

The gourmet burger brand, famed for their for their no-frills 100% British beef patties made in their own butchery and served pink as standard, will soon be opening on Bridge Street opposite Crazy Pedro’s.

But you don’t have to wait that long to try them.

From Monday, the juicy burgers will be available at a week-long pop-up at Northern Monk’s Refectory Bar in the Northern Quarter.

Included on the menu will be Honest Burgers’ signature Honest burger, featuring British beef, homemade red onion relish, smoked bacon, cheddar, lettuce and homemade pickles.

There’s also the chance to try their US-inspired Tribute burger, their vegan Plant burger, and their bacon gravy, as well as homemade rosemary salted chips cut fresh every day.

You can tuck into the burgers alongside 12 of Northern Monk’s finest beers, six special guest beers and guest brewer Interboro NYC.

Honest Burgers was co-founded by friends Tom Barton and Philip Eeles in Brighton 2009, where they started out cooking great British burgers in a field at a local food festival.

The following year they opened a tiny restaurant in Brixton Market, making everything from scratch and cycling eight miles every day to pick up the best beef available.

The company opened its own butchery in 2017, which enabled them to make their own patties rather than buy them in made to spec.

Using 100% British chuck and rib cap, Honest Burgers chop the meat rather than mincing it, which keeps in the flavour and juices, and serve it medium rare (or however you like, if pink’s not your thing).

They also work with small indie breweries nearby each of their restaurants to serve local beers.

“We’re big fans of Northern Monk,” said Tom Barton, co-founder of Honest Burgers, about the new Manchester pop-up.

“They treat beer like we treat burgers and chips. No fuss and frills, just good quality.

“We’re hoping a lot of people will come down to say hello and see what we’re all about before we officially open our doors next month.”

Honest Burgers will be available at Northern Monk, 10 Tariff Street, from 11th-17th March: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from noon until 8pm; Thursday and Friday from noon until 9pm; and Saturday and Sunday from noon until 6pm.
