A new steak restaurant is opening inside the Northern Quarter’s horticulture-themed cocktail bar Allotment.
The brainchild of Allotment head chefs Joe and Christee, the new concept – called Herd NQ – will launch to the public on 13th February, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The couple have been cheffing at the NQ bar and restaurant for several years now but will be showcasing something different through Herd NQ.
They’ll be using Tib Street butchery The Butcher’s Quarter for all their beef, which is sourced sustainably from Cheshire before being butchered and dry-aged for at least thirty days on-site.

From the main menu, diners can look forward to dishes like braised beef cheeks with mash and lardons, an 8oz Herd burger with chilli jam, onion rings and triple-cooked chips, and a range of locally-sourced steaks including sirloin, ribeye, flat iron and t-bone cuts.
For those who aren’t in the mood for beef, further mains include a pan-roasted chicken supreme with pearl barley risotto, pan-roasted cod with parma ham and griddled asparagus, and a beetroot wellington.
On the dessert front, sweet treats include a chocolate creme brulee with cacao nib tuile, coconut panna cotta with roasted pineapple, and a rhubarb and custard crumble. Herd NQ will also be selling a selection of handmade truffles.
Joe and Christee are also working on a Sunday lunch menu to follow.
Head down on Thursday 13th February to try the new menu for yourself.
