It’s that time of year again. The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer, and for some of us the countdown to Christmas has started. It may seem a long way off but there’s less than 100 days till the big day and, of course, nowadays the festive season starts some time in October.
If you’re one of those people who leave it till the last minute to make your Christmas plans and do your Christmas shopping, we wish you well. But if your thoughts are already turning to the big day and you are already making plans for the party season, you may like to know that five popular Northern Quarter venues from the MAD Group – Rosylee, The Fitzgerald, Hula, Walrus and Tusk – have published their Christmas menus, and it looks like they’ve got every angle of the festive season covered from Christmas lunch and Christmas dinner to afternoon tea, Gatsby parties, New Year’s Eve celebrations!
Organizing a work’s do and finding a suitable venue can be a headache, but if you book and confirm a party of 10 or more with an MAD venue then you’ll get a £20 voucher to spend in either Rosylee or Walrus in January. And the early bird definitely catches the worm, because if you book and confirm before the end of October, they’ll double it to £40!
Rosylee are promising to make sure you get that warm, fuzzy, nostalgic Christmas feeling when you tuck into their locally sourced, best of British food and drink. They are known for serving traditional food with a modern twist, so expect more of the same but with a festive flourish.
They will, of course, be serving the traditional roast turkey (with apple and sage stuffing and pigs in blankets), but if you fancy something less traditional, choose from aubergine, Croxton Manor cheddar and chestnut parcel or gammon chop with a port and clementine sauce, or even grilled haddock with chardonnay and chervil cream sauce – all served with rosemary roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. A three course Christmas lunch is £21.95, and a three course Christmas dinner £27.95.
Over the holiday season, Rosylee will also be serving up Christmas afternoon tea (£18.25) with lots of festive mini treats. You can make it even more festive with a glass of fizz and chocolate dipped strawberries for £25.25.
If you fancy toasting the New Year in a more relaxed setting with your loved ones, then their mouth-watering three course dinner (£35) could be for you, including a glass of Prosecco on arrival. Choose from beef fillet medallions, caramelised fig and red onion tatin, pumpkin puree and marinated Colwick cheese, corn fed chicken stuffed with slow roast tomatoes and Colwick cheese, or crab, lemon and langoustine with homemade Westcombe ricotta dumplings!
You’ll also get FREE entry to The Fitzgerald ‘Grea Gatsby’ NYE Party!
Up the stairs through the hidden entrance is The Fitzgerald, a stylish bar with plush velvet and leather sofas, dark wood tables and a vintage, speakeasy vibe where you can party like it’s 1925 this Christmas.
Hold a private party there in December and they will revive the hedonistic antics of the 1920s for you! You’ll enjoy delicious cocktails served in cut glassware, along with DJs, dancing and a silent cinema. They’ll even throw in a welcome cocktail on arrival. Or you could enjoy a 20s style Tipsy Tea Party sipping bespoke gin cocktails and enjoying homemade cakes and pastries – complete with a jazz playlist and 20’s styled staff, this is one tea party that’s sure to end up with dancing on the tables.
Private booths for after-work drinks can also be booked and the New Year will be brought in with a Great Gatsby NYE Party! Think electro swing DJs, live music, silent cinema and 20’s props. Not to be missed for just £10pp including a glass of Prosecco on arrival.

If you’ve got the meal booked, but you want a venue to host a Christmas party in that you’ll remember for all the wrong reasons, then Hula is the perfect place to get crazy in! It may be cold outside but it’s always hot, hot, hot in this Tiki wonderland.
Guaranteed to be the most fun you’ll have this Christmas, Hula will bring you rum, fire and fun in this subterranean den of technicolour fun and tropical libations – whatever the size of your festive gathering.
