The Great Northern is partnering with ARMR Store for the final two weekends of Community Kitchen on the Square takeovers, starting this weekend.

It’s the last chance to support a local independent via this unique city centre set-up, with a menu of Caribbean-inspired, plant-based treats.

Each dish from the store, which is usually based in Ardwick, is meat free and includes organic ingredients that are packed with flavour.

Options include pizzas topped with jackfruit and caramelized plantain, oyster mushroom wings coated in a spicy jerk BBQ sauce, and an ackee medley featuring mac ‘no’ cheese.

The pop-up restaurant on the square has provided a COVID-secure space for local businesses that are restricted with limited outdoor dining space throughout the summer and autumn, with weekly takeovers allowing these restaurants to serve up their delicious dishes right in the heart of the city centre.

ARMR Store previously popped up at the site as part of Eat Well’s takeover, with popular dishes including  roast broccoli and pumpkin curry and a jackfruit burger with garlic and dill mayo, red pepper relish and a hash brown, and the Great Northern is delighted to welcome them again.

Other takeovers throughout the summer have included Evuna, Platzki, Salvi’s, Siam Smiles and Tampopo.

The takeover is sponsored by Estrella Damm and Didsbury Gin, an award-winning producer with a range of bright zesty gins, including raspberry and elderflower and blood orange and ginger.

There’s no need to book in advance, simply pop down and enjoy drinks and food outdoors either solo or with the rest of your household or social bubble.

The kitchen is under shelter, but it’s advised to wrap up warm to make sure your visit is truly cosy.

ARMR Store will take over the Great Northern Community Kitchen Friday 16th and Friday 23rd October, 4pm-9pm and Saturday 17th and Saturday 24th October, 1pm-9pm.
