Are you one of those people like me for whom getting out of bed in the morning is their biggest challenge? And taking on the daily commute a close second?
If you are, you’re in for a rude awakening next month when a gigantic urban obstacle course sets pulses racing at New Bailey in aid of the Forever Manchester charity.
It’s not for the faint hearted. The challenges are exciting, scary and designed to push you to your limits, so you’ll need the full support of your teammates to make it through the course together.
Take a 30ft leap of faith, plunge into caves, and clamber up a 40ft high tower on the eight-part course which involves running, crawling and sliding from obstacle to obstacle.
But don’t worry, before the challenges officially begin a dedicated instructor will kick things off with a warm-up session.
And with huge low-hanging nets, a blindfolded tyre run and a 10ft beam to scale across, will your team be able to successfully navigate the challenges and complete the course?
The course is designed to test your strength, endurance and stamina, and will take up to an hour to complete. And there’ll be a dedicated viewing area for those not taking part to cheer on/laugh at their pals as they work their way through the challenges.
Up to 50 teams will be able to take part throughout the day, but only the fastest will be awarded the prize at the end of it.
“This course isn’t for the faint hearted,” said Phil Mayall, regional director at The English Cities Fund.
“But we expect many people to rise to the challenge in the name of teamwork and endurance […] all in aid of a local cause that benefits each and every resident across Greater Manchester.”
With street food stalls, an ice cream van and a coffee cart available throughout the day to ensure all guests are well looked after, Salford health kitchen Foodwell will also be offering discounted healthy smoothies to all participants as well as donating the mammoth winners prize of a meal for four. Complete with a bar tab, of course.
All profits raised from the event will go to the Forever Manchester charity to help support the amazing work they do and facilitate a range of community driven activities across Greater Manchester.
It takes place on 21st June and tickets for the event cost £125 per team. But for a limited time only, groups of four who want to take part in the challenge can make the most of special discounted tickets costing just £99.
