Brynevans Pride

Hopefully you’ve all enjoyed your Sunday lunch with the family, so now it’s time to get back in the city. This weekend is set to be another belter in the greatest city on earth with another year of the ‘Manchester Pride’ festival.

“…around 50,000 happy smiley people will be dawning on the city in usual extrovert fashion…”

With more colours of the rainbow and more characters than a Mamma Mia ensemble number, it’s shaping up to be the best event yet. Now, I won’t be attending as I’m working and I’m married… but around 50,000 happy smiley people will be dawning on the city in usual extrovert fashion and will mean for most restaurants that a busy weekend is on the cards.

Manchesterpride Parade

At the Café Bar Grill in the mighty ABode Manchester were giving you an extra 25% off our a la carte menu, to qualify you need a ‘Pride’ wristband or by mentioning that you’re a fan of my column!

So, strawberries, champagne and lipsticks at the ready, here’s my strawberries and cream dish.

Serves 4:

  • 1 punnet of British strawberries
  • 300ml double cream
  • 65g sugar
  • 30ml strawberry liqueur
  • 2 shortbread biscuits
  • 4 sprigs fresh mint leaves
  • 1 vanilla pod

“…pour a whole bottle of pink champagne into a big glass, spread on the lippy and ease your into the weekend.”

Hull (take the green bit off) the strawberries and cut into quarters. Mix with the liqueur and chopped mint.
Whip the cream with the sugar and scraped vanilla pod until just stiff!

Bowl up the strawberries and ‘splodge’ on the vanilla cream, smash up the biscuits and sprinkle over the bowl, use some left over liqueur to swizzle round and a little more mint to garnish.

But seriously get a mahoosive bowl of it, pour a whole bottle of pink champagne into a big glass, spread on the lippy and ease your into the weekend. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Enjoy the parties wherever you are and stay safe.

Until next week Manchester…
