Friday Food Fight was one of the most searched for set of words on our site in recent times.
Packed to the rafters every Friday, nobody wanted the Victorian Upper Campfield hall hotspot to end after its twelve events of Spring food, drink and DJs.
“10 weekend block parties in a secret location with a summer outside space”
Following the success of the first Friday Food Fight, the team behind it called B.EAT Street Manchester, are bringing their ever-changing food, drink and rave line-up to a secret venue in Manchester for ten summer weekend block parties.
Now titled #UPINYOURGRILL, will be hosted in a secret location providing Manchester with a fantastic new weekend outside space for the summer.
Each weekend is to be curated by one of Manchester’s leading club nights; combining food from the the best venues and street food heroes in the North all washed down with an expertly selected range of craft beers, ciders and fresh cocktails.
Serving 35,000 dishes to 20,000 plus people complete with 25 local DJs and club nights, 30 food traders and five new start ups over 12 nights, the event brought a totally new turbo charged food-court experience to the city’s Friday night party scene.
Curated by Chris Legh and Will Evans, the event brought together some of the region’s best home grown brands such as Solita, Lucha Libre, Red’s True Barbecue, Mughli and Aumbry alongside four brand new start up businesses.
The team scoured the region for start-ups looking for their break into the hugely competitive Manchester food circuit and the very best were invited to take part in a series of cook-offs to demonstrate just what they would bring to the #FridayFoodFight experience. The team selected just five prospective businesses to take the much sort after spaces in the line-up across the 12 weeks.
Talking about the event curator Chris Legh said;
“Friday Food Fight has been a fantastic experience. We wanted to put something totally different together that Manchester had never seen the likes of before and we are pretty sure we pulled it off. The real success story was the new start ups who really shone amongst the line up of established businesses. Up In Your Grill is set to be more turbo fuelled fun with the added bonus of a great outdoor space for the people of Manchester to enjoy for ten whole weekends.”
Some of the successful start ups including La Dolce Dolls, Love From the Streets, Shake Maroc & Roll, Fair Game and Hip Hop Chip Shop.
Up In Your Grill will start at 4pm on Friday 20th June and will continue for ten weekends. The line-up will be announced at 6pm this Thursday (3rd June).
