We know you love Manchester and we wouldn’t normally direct you away. However, this modern castle in Cheshire is an enchanting hidden gem. Steeped in romance and tradition, it’s a real treasure to have in the North West to hideaway from the hustle & bustle of the city. It’s modern versus ‘oldey-worldey’ and from the grandeur gatehouse and valet parking on arrival to the buffet style English breakfast in the morning, it’s exquisite.
“Once you’re in the castle grounds there’s no reason to leave.”
The castle has centuries of tradition within its walls, and the ageless charm you enjoy now is due to the vision held by the Naylor family when they took ownership back in 2006.
One of the best things about the place, especially for Valentine’s Day, is you can’t get any phone signal – let’s face it, technology these days is the biggest disruption for a relationship. Bliss.
Once you’re in the castle grounds there’s no reason to leave. In fact, apart from missing out on the luxurious and contemporary castle facilities, there’s no reason to leave your room. Rooms are spacious with a fantastic 24 hour in-room dining service, hospitality trays, a fairy-tale four poster bed, TV and free standing bath you can spend your whole night in your room. Dining in the 1851 Restaurant is highly recommended, though.
The 1851 Restaurant is classical valium French and modern British cuisine. It has three AA Rosettes and a Taste Cheshire Award. Much like the features of the castle, it’s classic with a modern twist. Try the five spice roasted turbot, scallop, crispy duck wing, sweet corn, soy it’s delectable. And for the more carnivorous palette the sirloin steak is as good as Grill On The Alley.
As well as beautiful rooms and restaurant, the castle has an incredibly atmospheric wine cellar, a brasserie for casual dining and spa facilities. A good option for you lovers is the Elemis Duo Package which includes a relaxing back, neck and shoulder massage followed by an Elemis Taster Facial all performed by experienced and friendly therapists. This package also includes Afternoon Tea for two in the 2010 Brasserie.
Leisurely stays at Peckforton Castle don’t always mean doing absolutely nothing. Within the magnificent grounds there’s some weather permitted outdoor activities to do such as archery, Land Rover off-roading, shooting or an adventurous bike ride.
Careful, you’ll be getting married next. And at Peckforton Castle it’d be the perfect wedding.
