A celebration of the folk who made it all possible.
Can you believe it’s been almost a year since we reopened our doors following our hello future redevelopment?
In that time, more than 800,000 of you have paid us a visit, exploring our beautiful new galleries, embarking on new adventures and generally making the Museum your own.
So, to mark 12 months since scores of you queued round the block, we had to throw a party didn’t we? But this isn’t just any old party, it’s a huge celebration of the people who made all of this possible. That means you!
So put on your party hat and walk the red carpet for a full day of fun.
First, strike a pose for our photographer who’ll be taking snaps of the stars of the show (you, of course), then head on in and get involved in the party games going on throughout the day across our galleries. Test your aim by pinning the tail on April the Tenontosaurus, show us your most fearsome faces in dinosaur musical statues and unwrap goodies in a giant game of pass the parcel.
There’ll be prizes for the best party hats, so either come prepared or make your own dazzling creation in one of our party hat workshops throughout the day. But there’ll be a Party Hat Hunt too, where you’ll have a chance to win prizes by finding all the objects wearing party hats throughout the Museum.
And that’s not all. Circus performers and a magician will be on hand to entertain you throughout the day, we’ll have poetry workshops and performance in the South Asian Gallery, amphibian rubbings in the Vivarium and drop-in, family Wuqinxi sessions in the Chinese Culture Gallery. Oh, and we’ll have cake too. There has to be cake.
