Have your visit to the website make a difference in Greater Manchester…
During each session, you will have the opportunity to try a different food, music or craft-based activity, inspired by the museum’s collection. Roll up your sleeves and relax your mind as we bake, write, paint and get creative together!
The theme of our first session, on July 30, is “Stamps & Symbols”. Join us to discover the incredible book of blue-inked stamps in our collection that belonged to the Btesh family, who were one of the earliest Syrian traders to arrive in Manchester.
From 1842, Abraham Btesh operated a fabric trading business in Manchester. Come and discover this amazing book featuring the company’s various trademark designs that would have been stamped on fabric for trade. From Arabic words to animals and plants, these beautiful images are full of character!
Inspired by the stamps in the Btesh book, you’ll get to design your very own stamp that reflects your interests – whether that’s football, food or animals! We’ll be doing lino printing and monoprinting, so something for all ages to enjoy.
