Sham Steele, producer, DJ, co-founder of the iconic TRPHSE and the brains behind INFRARED, describes the night and platform as a testament to the golden days of music exploration. The essence of INFRARED is to hark back to a time before music discovery was just a click away on Spotify; a nod to the era where music enthusiasts ventured out, embracing the thrill of discovering new sounds first-hand.
Duality in its meaning, INFRARED, cleverly references infrared technology, the original method of transferring music and visuals, as well as the feeling associated with higher frequencies.
Drawing inspiration from the 90s UK underground music scene, it pays homage to the paradigm shift that birthed diverse genres like DnB, Jungle, UK Funky, Garage, Grime, and more, leaving an irrefutable imprint on the global rave scene. As Sham Steele puts it, “INFRARED is about recreating that special experience from the past”. He adds, “I was literally a baby back then and wasn’t old enough to rave lol, but I thought it would be special to recreate this experience, putting music discovery at the forefront”.
Despite its upbeat and melodic dance music focus, the night will embrace a diverse range of genres, the only constant – the music’s ability to uplift people to a higher frequency.
Beyond being a party, INFRARED aims to build a community of like-minded individuals, bound by expression, art, and music. The night invites people from various backgrounds and cultures to immerse themselves in dance music. These carefully
curated events, will feature some of the most exciting new wave DJs on the UK scene and music producers known for their own unique sounds. DJs will seamlessly navigate through the sounds of UK Funky, Soulful House, Broken Beats, Amapiano, Dub, Jungle, Garage, Footwork, Jersey, World Music, and more.
Guests are encouraged to come with an open mind, as INFRARED promises a diverse audio experience unlike any other in the city. Anticipate high-energy sets from Sham Steele, Keyrah, Slowpo, Chaise, Reon Vangèr, Lasimba, Papu Raf, with Faro taking charge of hosting duties.
