Hackney Colliery Band

A group of true brass pioneers, 12-piece Hackney Colliery Band has been described by The Times as ‘reinventing the brass band format for the 21st century’.

Since the release of its eponymous debut album in 2011, the East London collective has blown its way into the public consciousness and according to BBC Radio 2 is one of the greatest live bands in the country. The outfit plays a genre-bending combination of brass, reeds, percussion and electronics.

From collaborations with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Madness to James Taylor and Beninese-French Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo, Hackney Colliery Band has turned many music industry heavyweights on to its unique sound.

In 2012, the group played at the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics and high energy sets followed at the MOBO, Brit and Mercury Awards and 2019 album Collaborations: Volume One launched at a sold out show at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.
