Foster with Salford Council – Information Evening

23 May 2023 @ 16:30 - 20:30

Free

Now is a very exciting time to join Salford Fostering Service.

We want young people to grow up in happy, stable homes in which they can flourish, ideally within the Salford area, however this is not essential, but you must have the ability to transport children to and from school, family time, training, and attend meetings.

We are seeking to appoint Route 29 Foster Carers for young people who need a supportive home and stability, with carers who would question, ‘would that be good enough for my own child’.

The aims of the Route 29 are to support young people to return home to their families whenever possible, or to identify the most appropriate means of support and care.

Route 29 foster carers will be directly linked to Route 29 which aims to support young people and their family to prevent young people entering care and is usually a time limited involvement to support a family and young person. Route 29 hub is located within Salford and is able to offer time limited respite to families in need. They also offer outreach support tailored to the needs of individual families.

You will need to become a fulltime foster carer, ideally you will have experience of supporting young adolescents with a trauma informed lens. Training would be provided by the service.

You will have good parenting experience (this does not have to be with children of your own), a passion for achieving good outcomes and stability for Adolescents as well as the ability to work with professionals. Edge of Care foster carers can have other caring commitments or children of their own living at home.

You will also need to have a spare room specifically for fostering. You will need to be resilient, robust, and keen to make a commitment to being the difference to a young person through ups and downs.

We offer a highly supportive and nurturing environment which enables individuals to grow. We offer an excellent training package, support groups, fostering buddies, on call service, as well as 24hr urgent support, allocated supervising social worker, support workers, monthly newsletters, events such as panto, celebration events, development days, Christmas party, support groups for foster carers own children as well as competitive allowances recently reviewed and uplifted.
