Grown up winter crafting evening comes to Mossley
A cosy evening of winter crafting is coming to The Vale at the end of November by popular demand.
Felt & Fizz, on Thursday 28 November, is an introduction to the ancient and fascinating art of felting. The after hours session, which is aimed at adults, was masterminded after ‘overwhelming love’ for a felting taster session at the Mossley art’s centre’s recent third birthday celebrations.
With almost three quarters of UK adults engaging in craft activities last year, and over a third saying they turn to creative hobbies for stress relief, felting provides the perfect balance of mindful relaxation and hands-on creativity.
Participants are invited to unleash their creativity in a festive atmosphere, as Emily Wood from Cabasa Carnival Arts takes them through how to felt an evocative winter scene or even a festive landscape using a popular technique called wet felting. The more nimble-fingered can ask for guidance on creating a 3D figure.
Attendees at the two-hour relaxed workshop will be offered a complimentary glass of fizz (non-alcoholic option available) and additional drinks will be available to purchase.
Felting is the art of turning individual wool fibres into densely textured fabric. The practice has been around for thousands of years, with the earliest known examples of felt clothing, bedding and even tents coming from Siberia and Mongolia.
This event is for ages 14+. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
