Manchester’s best pub quiz is hiding inside this Northern Quarter dive bar

Pub quizzes attract all sorts: from serious, middle-aged nerds looking to take home the all-important cash prize to lackadaisical students just looking to get a bit boozy and have a laugh.

There’s plenty to find in Manchester, but we think we’ve found the city’s best – and it’s hidden inside a Northern Quarter dive bar.

Hosted every Thursday by comedienne Fi Abernethy, Quizzin’ is a speedy fun quiz that takes place at Tib Street’s Dive NQ every week. 

Expect a mix of general knowledge, pictures, music and challenge rounds sure to keep you on your toes and give you a good giggle while you’re at it. 

Whether she has you jumping up and down in the true or false round or trying to get your hoop round the nob (we’ll let you find out for yourselves with that one), you’re sure to be laughing the whole way through. 

The quiz is only £1 to play and prizes range from gin hampers and wireless headphones to cinema tickets and paint-balling experiences. 

Oh and don’t forget the old faithful cash prize, never to be sneered at! 

Even better, it also coincides with the bar’s ‘happy hour’ – which runs for FIVE hours, from 5pm to 10pm. 

Between these hours you can get a selection of beers, glasses of house wine, bartenders’ cocktail and single spirit and mixer for just £3.50 each.

And the kitchen is open late, too, with Japanese street food delights from the brains behind Hale and Wilmslow’s successful ZUMU kitchen. 

Tuck into treats like lightly battered popcorn shrimp drizzled in a sweet chilli sauce, dynamite cauliflower bites, steamed Chinese bao buns and huge sushi platters to keep you going. Fish, they say, is brain food after all.
