Dancing Grannies and Corrie’s Kym Marsh to open new Specsavers store

Known for her love of stylish specs, Kym, who plays Michelle Connor in Coronation Street, will appear at a special family fun day launch event at the new £450k store. 

She will be joined by face painters, balloons and performances throughout the day from the legendary Dancing Grannies are expected to draw a crowd with their comedy performances. 

With a total refit cost of over £450k, the 2,382 sq ft store employs 15 local staff and has four eyesight testing rooms and two audiology rooms, equipped with a soundproof booth for hearing tests. It is already providing industry-leading vision and hearing care with cutting edge tablet technology capable of taking customer measurements when dispensing glasses. It also features a ‘magic mirror’ camera which enables customers to try on multiple frame styles, ensuring they receive the best and most accurate service possible.  

Kym says: ‘This is a really important year for me as it marks key milestones in both my personal and my work life so I’m definitely in the celebrating mood.

‘Glasses are such an important part of my look and I love choosing new frames, so I can’t wait! I’m also intrigued to meet the famous Dancing Grannies.” 

The Specsavers family fun day takes place on 19 March 2016 at Manchester Fort Shopping Park starting at 10am and running throughout the day. The new store will be officially opened by Kym and the Grannies at 12.45pm. 

Retail director Peter Dodd said: “Manchester Fort Shopping Park is proving to be a strong location for us, we’ve been able to further expand the service already provided at Arndale and we are joining some great retailers on the park, too – it will be great to celebrate this with our new and existing customers this weekend.”
