Summer isn’t the only season that can do quirky film pop-ups. Granted, this time of year the wine may be mulled rather than sparkling and you’ll draw a few odd looks if you turn up with a picnic basket. But with no weather and no wasps to worry about, we reckon this cinema makes for the perfect festive treat.
With the nights drawing in and a chill in the air, we reckon there’s nothing better than snuggling up with a Christmas film and a mince pie or three.
You’ve probably already fired up a DVD player/VHS/Netflix/Amazon Prime/BBC iPlayer, grabbed your comfies and planned for a Christmassy night in.
Change those plans.
A Christmas cinema is coming to King Street Townhouse. It’s downstairs in the listed cellar space with a unique vaulted brick ceiling and cosy plush leather seats. This luxurious screening room is set to make for quite the festive film experience.
You’ll be greeted with a glass of champagne or mulled wine, plenty of popcorn, mince pies and, of course, a feelgood film.
It starts in December with Love Actually and then goes on to showcase festive favourites like The Holiday, Elf, Miracle on 34th Street and Home Alone. No, we can’t contain our excitement either.
To make you feel even better about treating yourself to this snazzy cinema experience, £5 from each ticket sale is going directly to the Cash For Kids charity to support Greater Manchester children aged 0-18 who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect. Well, this is the season for giving after all. Tickets are £30.
If you fancy booking in or buying a ticket to the show, click here. It’s worth mentioning that most dates sold out in break neck speed. But, due to popular demand, new dates have been added to the film schedule; from the 26th until the 1st January including the perfect film for New Year’s Day – The Hangover. It’s worth mentioning that the New Years Eve offering will be pizza, chip cones and delicious popcorn. Nice one.
