“This is Manchester, we do weddings differently here.”

So say the events team at Albert Square Chop House. They’ve been responsible for the happy unions of many a Mancunian couple over the years.

Located in the iconic Memorial Hall built in memory of Prince Albert, the love of Queen Victoria’s life, Albert Square Chop House lays claim to two remarkable legacies.

The first: the love story of Victoria and Albert. The second: 1662’s Act of Uniformity, which the Memorial Hall was commissioned to commemorate. The act was the inspiration for the non-conformist movement which still epitomises the spirit of Manchester today.

Widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Venetian Gothic architecture in Manchester, the Hall was built by noted Victorian architect Thomas Worthington, also responsible for the Albert Memorial in Albert Square housing Matthew Noble’s statue of Prince Albert built in 1867.

The Grade II listed building pre-dates Alfred Waterhouse’s Town Hall and even Albert Square itself, as well as being regarded by Historic England as one of the finest examples of Venetian Gothic Revival architecture in the country.

With such a significant and romantic history, it’s no wonder that so many Manchester couples celebrate their nuptials here.

Add in the venue’s close proximity to the Town Hall (because you’ve got to get those all-important photos somewhere iconic) and the registry office, and the fact that Albert Square Chop House also has its own fabulous in-house wedding planner, and it’s hard not to understand its appeal.

All of Albert’s wedding packages are bespoke and completely tailored to your needs. What’s more, Lawrence Hallows, the Chop Houses’ in-house wedding expert, is on hand to work with your individual requirements and budgets to make your special day one of a kind from start to finish, overseeing even the smallest of details for you to ensure that your first day of married life is one that you’ll both treasure forever.

“After months of preparation, collective hard work and a mutual bond, it’s my absolute pleasure to be a part of a day you will remember forever,” says Lawrence.

“It’s my love of the job that enables me to understand and deliver the wedding you dream of, and it’s my passion that guarantees you feel comfortable that everything is in hand.

“What I love about our venue is that you can do what you like with it. It’s a blank canvas whilst remaining quirky and original. It’s our award-winning food and wine list that makes us a cut above the rest and allows you to really treat your guests on the day.

“Due to the experience I’ve gained over the years, I work with the best teams, from florists to musicians and everything in between. I don’t just provide a venue, I provide a service.”

From award-winning food and wine pairings that will blow your socks off, to full-on red carpet treatment from start to finish that include their staff going all out to meet your needs – even going so far as heading to the shops to get flat shoes so your bridesmaids can have a proper dance – Albert’s guarantees a warm Manchester reception from start to finish, with plenty of character and history thrown in for good measure.
