Northern Quarter bar, pizza hangout and art space PLY is again partnering with Absolut to deliver its annual art programme, this time in a quest to uncover emerging talent in the fields of art, music and technology.
PLY will be giving eight carefully selected emerging artists or collectives a helping hand to showcase their work at PLY over the next twelve months. At the end of the year one artist or group will receive the PLY x Absolut Award for Emerging Talent.
Artists are invited to submit exhibition proposals to PLY working to a simple brief. Life With No Labels is based on the concept of the limited edition Absolut Mix bottle. Inspired by the six colour rainbow of the LGBT flag, the design’s semi-transparent triangles allow the bottle’s colours to overlap in distinct ways when viewed from different angles. This intersecting effect symbolises the connection that is created when various unique individuals mix together.
Artists should consider the use of shape, colour, music and technology. PLY and Absolut encourage creative collaboration to bring these elements together.
Keen creatives are asked to submit exhibition proposals to PLY by Friday 22 July which should include an outline of their exhibition plan and visual references.
Eight artists or collectives will be awarded with their own solo show at PLY and to help the artists along the way, PLY will contribute £200 towards the production of each exhibition.
At the end of the programme, one artist or collaborative will be awarded the PLY x Absolut Award for Emerging Talent. In addition to the award, the winner will receive a £1000 grant to support their next creative project together with goodies from PLY and Absolut.
Proposals must be submitted by Friday 22 July by email to [email protected]. Artists invited to exhibit will be notified by Wednesday 27 July.
