If you’re planning your wedding this year and haven’t a clue where to start, fear not.

We’ve spoken with the experts behind Bride: The Wedding Show, the North West’s best-established wedding event, in order to find out 2019’s biggest wedding trends and help you plan for your special day.

Taking place at historic Cheshire Tudor estate Tatton Park, Bride: The Wedding Show takes place on the first weekend of February and hosts over 120 of Manchester and Cheshire’s best wedding suppliers.

After seventeen years in the wedding planning game, they certainly know their stuff. From ethical inspiration to the colour of the year, keep reading to find out what 2019 has in store.

Eco-friendly weddings

Taking inspiration from Prince Harry and Meghan’s eco-conscious wedding, ethical options such as in-season, foam-free flower installations and cakes that use locally-sourced ingredients are expected to rise in popularity this year. Other ethical wedding inspiration ideas include options such as pre-loved wedding dresses and dried petal confetti – great for the environment, as it biodegrades naturally so doesn’t need sweeping up afterwards, unlike paper or foil alternatives that can be harmful to wildlife.

Bohemian romance

Staying hopeful for a repeat of the scorcher that was summer 2018, last year’s penchant for outdoor wedding spaces is set to continue into 2019. Expect more boho-inspired tipis and natural dressing, as well as couples bringing the outdoors in with plenty of potted plants and lush greenery. Taking it back to nature is set to be a big trend this year.

Industrial chic

Apparently, industrial venues are a must for 2019. Which is lucky for us here in Manchester, as we have plenty to choose from. Riffing off the rustic trend of 2018 (which we’re informed is still very much in fashion) we can expect to see couples embracing raw and metallic, industrial aesthetics – dressed up with rich florals and a splash of greenery for warmth.

Coral Colours

According to Pantone, Living Coral is the wedding colour of 2019. A life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone, Living Coral is found in our natural surroundings (in keeping with this year’s penchant for all things natural) and also pops through nicely on your photographs and social media posts. Whether it’s a touch of coral for the cakes, flowers or the bridesmaid dresses, this colour will be wonderful in any spring or summer wedding.

Bridesmen and Groomsgirls

Last year saw more couples disregard gendered roles in their wedding parties – putting the focus instead on celebrating with their nearest and dearest, unencumbered by traditional wedding roles. Expect to see plenty more bridesmen, groomsgirls and best women on the wedding circuit in 2019 – with conventional roles to become more of a guideline than a rule this year.

Taking place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd February 2019 from 10am to 5pm, standard entry tickets to Bride: The Wedding Show cost £15 on the day. Pick up your ticket to find on-trend inspiration for your big day.
