If you’ve read that Gaucho has gone into administration and expected the Manchester restaurant to be closed, you’re in for a surprise.

The bad news is that administrators Deloitte have confirmed that all 22 of the group’s Cau restaurants are closing. The good news is that Gaucho on St Mary’s Street is staying open – and it’s business as usual there.

“The measure has been taken to separate Gaucho from the Cau brand,” Julia Romanova, finance manager at the Manchester restaurant told us.

“Cau closed yesterday but Gaucho are fine. We’re open and we’ll remain open. All the branches will remain open. It’s business as usual.”

The only changes they will be making are to the new brunch menu they will be introducing at the end of August.

“We’re still working on our new menu which will be released in the next few weeks but that’s about the only news,” said Julia. “Otherwise we’re just open as usual, taking reservations and serving our clients.

“We’ve had a great number of calls and emails recently following the news. Some of the articles are honest and actually talk about Cau, but others have been misleading.”

What makes the Manchester branch stand out from all the other Gaucho restaurants, says Julia, is the northern hospitality of the staff as well as its unique location.

“The building we’re in is great. Gaucho Manchester has had a recent refurbishment so we are one of the few ones that look so grand.

“We’re still about the black and white style, we’re definitely different from the ones in London, Leeds and even Birmingham because we’re based in a church.”

Gaucho Manchester will also introduce their new acoustic brunch with a live band and a special atmosphere on Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 3.

Viva Gaucho!
