Manchester’s been going bee mad. The industrious insect has come to symbolise the spirit of Manchester.

They’re everywhere. On trams, bins, and in street art. The rooftop garden of the Printworks is home to over 60,000 of them and there has been a colony on the roof of the cathedral for years.

Lots of people got bee tattoos as a symbol of solidarity after the Arena terror attack.

They’ve even got their own B&B.

Now they’ve become the inspiration for a new cocktail created to celebrate the opening of premium cocktail bar Dirty Martini here next month.

The Manchestini consists of bee pollen, liquid honey, dried lavender, lemon juice, coconut water, Kalani coconut rum liquor and Manchester Gin and is garnished with a mini honey dipper, encrusted with honeycomb.

The flavour is bold, botanical and sweet.

“The team and I are extremely excited to be bringing Dirty Martini to Manchester and to introduce the Manchestini to our menu,” says the cocktail’s creator, product innovation and training manager Tom Cole.

“Nothing embodies the spirit of Manchester more than the bee so bee pollen and honey are key ingredients in our creation. We’re even using a local gin so I’m sure you’re going to love it.”

The Manchestini will be available for a limited time only at Dirty Martini which opens on Friday 10th November at 1 Peter Street, M2 5QR.

If you can’t wait that long, why not check out the video and do it yourself.
