A grey Manchester Saturday burst into colour today as thousands of local runners of all ages and abilities turned up to the happiest 5k on the planet.

The Color Run is an untimed 5k fun run aiming to combine fitness and fun, with the ultimate goal being that participants cross the line with a huge smile on their face.

Kicking off the second event of its 2017 summer tour across the UK, The Color Run brought over 8,500 runners from across the city together at the Etihad Campus to run, walk, skip and dance their way around the 5k course.

They were covered from head-to-toe in kaleidoscopic coloured powder along the route before eventually crossing the finish line and joining thousands of other runners at the Finish Festival where the party continued.

With a live set from DJ’s, MC’s getting the party started and mass Color Throws – a multicolour free-for-all where all runners come together to throw coloured powder over each other – it really was a day to remember.

The Color Run will brighten up the lives of people of all shapes, sizes, ages and genders across the UK this summer, with more than 30,000 people set to run the happiest 5k in the world.
