1967 was a good year for Manchester. United won the league and Noel Gallagher was born.
So was RRG. That’s Radcliffe Road Garage for those of you who don’t know. They started in 1967 consisting of a workshop with a single petrol pump and five mechanics.
Today, RRG have 20 centres employing over 750 people.
This weekend they are throwing a 50th birthday shindig and everyone’s invited. There’ll be drinks, food and good vibes all round.
You’ll be able to check out plenty of cars from the showroom too and you might find yourself driving home in your new dream machine because there’s a £500 giveaway to use against a new or used car, valid until 5pm on Sunday.
Getting a car is something that’s probably crossed most people’s minds on their daily commute to work. Waiting in the rain for a bus, being squashed between screaming kids on the tram or sitting with someone’s armpit to the face on the train isn’t most people’s idea of a good time.
Obviously the first step is deciding what make and model you fancy. You’ll also need to think about whether you want it new or used. Buying new has its perks: manufacturers warranty, a full lowdown on the cars specs, that all new car smell that pine shaped air fresheners just can’t replicate. You know the drill. But a used vehicle is clearly more affordable.
This weekend might just help you make up your mind as you sip away on complementary refreshments, and grab yourself a burger or hotdog from the outdoor BBQ.
Now if that’s not reason enough to check out the RRG anniversary weekend, I don’t know what is.
See you at the hotdog stand then?
