A wonderful evening of klezmer, performed by Susi Evans and Szilvia Csaranko with support by the Michael Kahan Kapelye.

Susi & Szilvia bring together the best of old and new world klezmer. They perform tunes from old manuscripts, collected in Jewish villages in Ukraine between 1912-1914. The same melodies played by generations of klezmer musicians at Jewish weddings. In contrast, they also showcase the music of legendary klezmer clarinettist Dave Tarras. Born in Ukraine, Tarras immigrated to New York in the 1920. There, he blended traditional klezmer with swing and other popular styles of the era, creating a distinct American-Yiddish sound.

Joining them will be the 14th cohort of klezmer students from The University of Manchester (The Michael Kahan Kapelye).
