Manchester and Salford have taken another giant leap forward in cementing their reputation as leading hubs for digital and creative industries, thanks to the launch of MediaCity’s brand-new Content Studio.

This state-of-the-art, multi-use content creation space is the largest of its kind in the region and is set to be a game-changer for creators, businesses, and brands looking to produce high-quality digital content.

MediaCity’s Content Studio

With a £600,000 investment, the new Content Studio provides an accessible and versatile environment for content creators of all levels. From seasoned professionals to emerging talent, the space is designed to cater to the growing demand for cutting-edge content creation, offering facilities including light and dark studios, podcast suites, and flexible creative spaces.

Whether it’s video production, photography, podcasting, or experiential media, the Content Studio ensures that creators have the tools they need to bring their visions to life.

Unlike traditional studio spaces that can be costly and exclusive, MediaCity has ensured affordability is at the core of this initiative. With rates starting from just £10 per hour, creators and businesses now have access to industry-standard facilities without breaking the bank. This approach aligns with MediaCity’s commitment to nurturing talent and keeping innovation within Greater Manchester.

Supporting the local creative ecosystem

The launch of the Content Studio is not just about providing a space—it’s about creating an exciting creative community. Spearheaded by University of Salford alumnus Ashley Salmon, the studio is designed to be an inspiring hub where creative minds can collaborate, learn, and grow. Through partnerships with local production companies and community group Heads, the space will offer workshops, training, and networking opportunities to help creators sharpen their skills and stay ahead in an ever-evolving industry.

Additionally, MediaCity’s collaboration with on-site production companies ensures seamless support for those using the studio. With access to professional-grade equipment, from greenscreens and infinity walls to high-end cameras and audio gear, creators can focus on producing content rather than managing logistics. One-on-one consultations will also be available to assist users in maximizing the potential of their projects.

Cementing Manchester and Salford’s place in the creative economy

The introduction of the Content Studio further solidifies MediaCity’s reputation as a cornerstone of the UK’s creative economy. Home to global media giants like the BBC and ITV, as well as over 250 SMEs, MediaCity has long been a driving force behind the region’s digital and media innovation. The new studio expands on this legacy, ensuring that talent and opportunity remain within Manchester and Salford rather than being outsourced elsewhere.

To celebrate the launch, MediaCity is introducing a new podcast, ‘This is MediaCity,’ produced in collaboration with The University of Salford and led by Stephen Chapman, Founder of 39 Pictures. Featuring recent graduates as part of its production team, the podcast will shine a spotlight on the people and stories that make MediaCity a creative powerhouse.

Caroline Aikman, Director of Marketing and Place at MediaCity

Caroline Aikman, Director of Marketing and Place at MediaCity, emphasised the importance of this initiative: “Content Studio represents our commitment to nurturing the next generation of digital creators and innovators. By providing the tools, spaces, and inspiration, we’re not just supporting the future of content—we’re empowering it.”

A creative destination

Located on the second floor of White Tower, the Content Studio is open to all from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm—and yes, even four-legged friends are welcome.

By prioritising accessibility, affordability, and community-building, MediaCity is ensuring that the next wave of content creators, influencers, and media professionals have a home to thrive in.
