Annual winter sale at Manchester’s original pottery teaching studio, now in a larger new home in Ardwick.
From functional pots for daily use to sculptural art works, Seven Limes Pottery’s seasonal sale is the perfect spot to grab a mulled wine and scope out that special present for a loved one or even for yourself.
The Pottery’s winter sale, which features samples, seconds and old stock at a reduced price alongside recently made pieces, has become an annual fixture for those in the know.
Everything is handmade in Manchester, with works by students, teachers and studio members. Look out for pieces from studio owner and renowned ceramicist Sam Andrew, whose classic Japanese Nerikomi work, which involves stacking and slicing contrasting colours of clay, has regular buyers in London and New York.
With prices from £10-£250, there’s something to suit every budget, including hand thrown, plates, bowls, vases and ornamental pieces. You might even snap up a second from a batch of bespoke tableware that the Pottery was commissioned to make for Stockport’s Green Michelin-starred Where The Light Gets in restaurant.
The open studio sale will also be an opportunity to find out about classes and courses at the Pottery, from beginners to advanced.
Strong on the use of recycled materials and sustainable techniques, Manchester’s longest standing pottery teaching studio is a family affair. Launched by mum Wendy in the late 1990s in her garage, the business moved to Windrush Millennium Centre in Moss Side in 2006.
Now in the capable hands of son and former neuropsychologist Sam, Seven Limes has recently found a new, larger home in an Ardwick railway arch, close to Mayfield Park.
