Poetry from Jardel Rodrigues and Jay Mitra
Verbose are bringing a very special line up to this year’s GM Fringe. Two incredible headliners alongside an eclectic open mic line up.
Verbose is one of Manchester’s longest running spoken word nights that welcomes new writing of all kinds from poetry to flash fiction to creative non fiction and beyond. Often some of Manchester’s most established writers pop up on the open mic so it is always worth a visit.
Meet the headliners… Jay Mitra and Jardel Rodrigues!
Jay Mitra (they/he) is a British Indian non-binary punk poet and creative non-fiction writer based in London. Jay has been featured on BBC Radio 6 and Radio 3’s The Verb and has also performed in a variety of festivals including BBC’s Contains Strong Language, Manchester Pride, and Manchester Punk Festival.
Jardel Rodrigues is a 26-year old writer and performer from South Manchester. Cutting his teeth on the city’s poetry circuit for over a decade, he’s gained recognition for his unique blend of lyrical flair and poetic tenderness that comes with a seriously macabre edge. He’s piled up bodies in slams both nationally and internationally, is a BBC Words First finalist and has won UNESCO’s ‘SLAM-O-VISION’.
