Once again Manchester Central is opening its doors for the annual Open House event
The venue has been an iconic city landmark for over 140 years, beginning life as one of the region’s major train stational. In the 1980’s, starting a new life as an events venue, the building was transformed into the fondly remembered GMEX.
Following a re-brand in 2007, the venue reclaimed the Manchester Central name and now hosts hundreds of thousands of people every year at a wide variety of events, from scientific conferences and gala dinners to exhibitions for food, film and travel fans. In a first for the venue, this year we saw over 9,000 snooker fans as we hosted the World Snooker Tour championships. As the diary fills up for another year, the team have dedicated a day to host the Open House event and welcome our local community to visit the venue and meet some of their team! This is a great opportunity to explore the venue’s fantastic spaces, learn more about Manchester Central’s history and this year guests will also have a chance to visit the venues brand new addition: Junction.
There will be a number of official venue tours, led by members of the Manchester Central team, so you can discover the venue and get the inside track on working at the venue! Doors will be open from 9am until 5pm and there will be refreshments available throughout the day, so even if you can only spare 30 mins out of your day, the team would love to welcome you to the venue!
