‘World’s first restaurant dedicated to desserts’ coming to Altrincham

The owners of Fireworks Ice Cream and Desserts claim it’s the world’s first restaurant dedicated entirely to desserts, and who are we to disagree?

The former Chiquito’s restaurant in Altrincham was packed to the rafters last week for the press launch of the latest addition to the town’s foodie scene.

With a menu that includes freak cones, cakes, mega-shakes and an endless selection of ice cream flavours, it’s the perfect place for anyone who likes to skip the starter and main and head straight for the dessert course.

The small sample I managed to get hold of proved tasty enough, the cakes are freshly baked on site, and there’s a large range of vegan and gluten-free desserts and ice creams.

I was a little disappointed to not sample the fireworks-style desserts or the Gold Rush – a deluxe triple toffee sundae, with salted caramel chocolate cake, toffee popcorn, pretzel pieces, salted caramel ice cream, and 24 carat gold leaf.

I can’t quite get my head around the idea of hitting the dance floor after eating ice cream but Fireworks promises to be a great place for under 18’s to socialise without needing ID to get in – and anyone else with a sweet tooth.

Sweet dreams are made of this.

Fireworks Ice Cream and Desserts opens on Monday 13th February 2017.
