You’d think the gin market was saturated. But still, new gins and unimaginable twists on the classic botanicals keep coming. We’re not sure whether we actually need nettle and pomegranate-infused gin any more than we need a fork to eat soup, but who’s complaining?

If you’re hankering for a G&T, one bar comes to mind. Atlas Bar. Once frequented by the late Tony Wilson, this slick watering hole is home to over 350 different types of gin. And that’s not a typo.

It’s a family-run business with a warm interior and a venue space that has something to offer everyone, throughout the day and evening, every day of the week.

Recognised for bringing new gins to market, the knowledgeable team offer friendly service and know all there is to know about their drinks. If you’re new to gin, the team will talk you through the offer and not in the fancy, shmancy jargon of many other watering places but in a relaxed and fun way. Nothing pretentious about this bar.

And as if sipping on hundreds of specifically crafted G&Ts isn’t enough for you, Atlas offer gin and cocktail masterclasses for you to try too. They are held either at the bar or brought to your home, office or event with a bespoke theme courtesy of the Atlas Mobile Bar.

The team excel at hosting events, such as birthdays, hen or stag dos, wedding receptions, christenings, networking or corporate events. You name it. And you can book them for smaller parties too.

High quality breakfasts and lunches are served Monday to Friday and prepared fresh every day by ex-Arbutus chef Ross and his team. These guys also serve up barista-style own-blend coffee and you can grab your brekkie and a piping hot cup of joe for £3. Do I hear bargain?

A hidden gem is the outdoor, south facing, covered and heated terrace. It’s perfect for enjoying the sunshine or – more likely – for snuggling up when it’s raining. Grab a warming winter gin and cosy up with a pork and Bramley apple pie or a proper British sage and onion scotch egg.

Stocking over 350 different gins and adding a new addition to their Gin Bible, weekly, the bar has an online menu where you can browse the range by country, flavour, style, botanicals or garnish and you can also buy bottles from their bottle shop.

They’re also hosting a monthly Gin Supper Club where chef Ross pairs three courses to a number of gins and brand ambassadors or distillers come and talk you through their gins and their stories.

And more regularly, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, they host a Tonic Taste Off, free of charge, where you can vote for your favourite tonic with a particular gin.

If you’re looking for a Christmas party with a difference, the bar has a quirky range of packages on offer, including their firm favourite Christmas barms, but if you’re wanting something different, the team will also tailor something to your specific requirements.

There are lots of events organised for next year, including Gin Supper Clubs, Atlas 100 Club, new-to-market gin festivals, World Gin Day and much more.

It’s not just all about gin though. The bar offers one of the widest draught and bottled beer and lager offers in the city, alongside premium wines, spirits and a quirky soft drink menu. You can even get an alcohol-free G&T for those days when you may have overdone it.
