St Paddy’s Day is traditionally dedicated to commemorating the patron saint who brought Christianity to Ireland.
However, these days the holiday tends to revolve more around green fashion statement pieces, drinking Guinness, indulging in a Jameson’s or two and generally having a good old knees up – whether you’re Irish or not.
One Manchester bar is going all-out for St Patrick’s Day this year.
Northern Quarter basement bar Dive NQ are throwing a weekend-long party with live football in the day and live Irish music in its basement in the evenings, with DJ’s taking over into the early hours.
Open until 5am on Friday and Saturday, and until late on Sunday, it’s the perfect place to shake your shamrocks.
The bar will be running a buy-2-get-1-free offer on Guinness all weekend alongside their usual happy hour offer on Friday and Sunday, making selected drinks just £3.50 between 5 and 10pm.
Pints of Guinness and Jameson boilermakers (a schooner of beer served with a shot of Jameson’s Irish whiskey) are just £5.
And the kitchen will be serving up a massive grazing platter for just £15 and a special ‘St Patty’s’ burger alongside all the usual favourites.
The platter is designed to be shared between two. Piled high with mac ‘n cheese balls, beef tacos, boneless chicken bites, Kentucky pulled pork sliders, cajun corn, red slaw, and mixed fries, it should be more than enough to keep you going throughout the day
The special ‘St Patty’ burger comes complete with green brioche, white pudding, a cheese-topped beef patty, Jameson’s gravy burger glaze and salad (oh, and fries, of course).
It’s open from 12pm with entry free up to midnight. So whether you’re a direct descendant of St Patrick himself, christening your new Irish passport in the wake of Brexit, or simply looking for an excuse to get out of your flat, Dive has you covered this Paddy’s.
