There’s nothing worse than staying home for the night, unlocking your phone, and realising half your mates are watching the band you love while you’re stuck with a Pot Noodle and a Netflix loop. No one likes missing out. But even when you do find out about a show in time you still have to go through the nightmare of booking tickets, remembering your login, entering some warped code, paying a fee to book, a fee to process, a fee to print at home, a fee to breathe.
Thankfully, Manchester newcomers DICE are finally putting things right. Launched in London last year by a crack team of former Vice and BBC Radio 1 music obsessives and the award-winning tech team behind the beautiful Monument Valley, DICE handpicks the best gigs in Manchester with absolutely no booking fees.
‘No more paying
through the nose
to some scumbag
ticket hoarder who
wants to charge
you ten times the
face value…’
You can register an account with your mobile number, keep tabs on upcoming shows with on sale reminders, and buy tickets in a couple of taps whilst you’re on the bus to work. Easy. It’s also 100% mobile with tickets stored on your phone so no more ‘Sorry (not sorry) we missed you’ notes from the postman.
Each act that makes it onto the app has been carefully chosen by a human editorial team so you know that if it’s on DICE, it’s worth seeing. They’ve got everyone from this year’s big names, to next year’s big breakouts, expect Taylor Swift to TĀLĀ, Disclosure to Dilly Dally, George Ezra to George Cosby.
In-app playback (courtesy of Spotify) lets you listen to track previews before purchasing your tickets, and each event also comes with its own tailored list of recommendations to help you discover even more incredible gigs.
If, on the off chance you do miss out on tickets for your favourite artist, DICE’s unique ‘Waiting List’ feature means you’ll be the first to know if more become available or next time the band come to town.
Need to return a ticket to a sold out show because you can’t make it any more? DICE gets rid of that headache, too. You can return your tickets for a full refund then DICE passes these tickets on to eager fans who have added themselves to the Waiting List. No more paying through the nose to some scumbag ticket hoarder who wants to charge you ten times the face value.
