Following the success of the Manchester Duck Race in March, another fantastic family focussed event is coming to New Bailey next month.

The new development across the river from Spinningfields will be transformed into a Roald Dahl wonderland for Glittering Eyes – a pop-up immersive cinema experience to celebrate the centenary of the author’s birth.

A giant peach will be positioned next to the cinema where you can climb inside and enjoy story time sessions between films.  There will also be a walk through Willy Wonka garden and tons of activities to keep the kids entertained. Alongside the full weekend of interactive entertainment there will be Roald Dahl themed food to buy along with more traditional street food stalls so no one goes hungry.

The event starts on Saturday 10 September at 11am with the first film, James and the Giant Peach, starting at 12pm and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) following at 3pm. There’s an 11am start on Sunday with The Witches at 12pm and Matilda at 3pm.

Glittering Eyes will be situated on the Track, the outdoor events space next to Stanley Street and New Bailey Street at New Bailey. With a limited capacity of just 200 seats per showing, the event is expected to sell out quickly.
