Debbie Marks has been executing exceptional bespoke weddings and corporate events in Greater Manchester and beyond for over a decade, working with some  of the UK’s biggest companies.

From planning prestigious events and charity balls to styling celebrity and footballer weddings, Radcliffe-based Debbie and her team at events company The Qube Decor Group strive to make the planning of any event or decor project easy and stress-free for their clients.

And though this year has been challenging for the award-winning events business, it has also seen them adapt and grow to embrace ever-changing circumstances.

We spoke to Debbie to find out more about her story – and about why it’s as important as ever to celebrate life’s special occasions.

“We work with private clients, corporate companies, event agencies and charities, and we’re all about making event planning and luxury living easy,” says Debbie, who started the business back in 2008.

“We design and plan a full range of events and celebrations, everything from luxury weddings and parties to corporate events, gala dinners and charity balls.”

From Christmas parties for the world’s leading audio branding agency PHMG to the glamorous Queen Charlotte’s Ball, Debbie and her team have worked on some of the biggest and most prestigious events in the country to cover all the creative elements from table decorations to dancefloors.

But this year has been exceptionally challenging for many businesses – and especially for a company such as Debbie’s, since all those large-scale events are currently not allowed to go ahead due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“Obviously it’s been a really hard year this year,” says Debbie.

“It’s been a really challenging year for any entrepreneur, and certainly a rollercoaster of emotions.

“We’ve coped in a very positive way, I would like to think. I made a promise to myself to remain visible as possible during this time so that our clients and future clients will remember us when we can operate again.

“We’ve had lots of our events rescheduled to next year. So next year is looking really busy already.

“And having so many events cancelled this year has also pushed us to look at new streams for the business.

“So since the pandemic started we rebranded as the Qube Decor Group. We’ve become renowned for our creative designs so it just made perfect sense to put the word ‘Decor’ in our name. We’ve since launched two new arms to our business.

“Firstly Qube Luxe is our interior decor side of the business specialising in Christmas installations for both residential and commercial, as well as our creative floral/foliage installation service for homes, restaurants and hotels. This sits really nicely alongside our new Qube Luxe online decor shop.

“Secondly we have created an exciting new brand called The Decor Qube, which in a nutshell is styled decor in a box to help you celebrate a special occasion or dinner party.

“The Decor Qube is ideal if you are having a small intimate party, baby shower, dinner party or celebrating a special moment in yours or someone’s life and you want to make it really special. It’s ideal for you if you want an easy done for solution that you can order at a click of a button.

“You can just order everything online and it’s all designed by us, and it arrives with you in a beautiful luxury box ready for you to style.”

Ideal for celebrations and entertaining, from Christmas or New Year to birthdays and anniversaries, every box includes decor, a game, a playlist and special decorative touches.

Just because we have to celebrate our special occasions at home, that shouldn’t make them any less, well, special, believes Debbie.

“It’s about transforming the house into something different from the everyday,” she explains.

“So that’s what we’re trying to help people do.

“We just want to make sure people can still celebrate life’s special occasions, no matter what they look like, no matter how small. It’s as important as ever.”

And for every box sold, The Qube Decor Group also make a donation to charity.

This Christmas they are supporting the Manchester Christmas Shoebox Appeal, part of Manchester Street Angels, with their Christmas dinner tablescapes.
