Our team and the VIVA Girls were very happy to be given a VIP table at Hope & Glory for the opening ceremony of the Olympics, not only were we treated to some fabulous cocktails but we also tucked into some tasty homemade burgers, whilst comfortably sitting with the best views of the Big Screen.

“…goosebumps, especially with what felt like a togetherness with the whole of Manchester in a unity…”

And we weren’t alone as another five and half thousand people congregated in Exchange Square for the Opening Ceremony at Hope and Glory, the city’s new Great British pop-up Olympic destination, offering the perfect view of London 2012 coverage on Big Screen.

“What a spectacle Saturday night was! I had goosebumps, especially with what felt like a togetherness with the whole of Manchester in a unity in support of our nation.” said Chris.

For the 18 days of London 2012 Games, the bar becomes a family friendly, patriotic meeting place for the Olympic events with the entire games being shown on the Big Screen, plus four large screens inside the Hope and Glory clear marquee.

On Saturday night, Waterloo Road’s Ben Ryan Davies and Will Rush, plus Charlie and Derry from XFactor’s The Risk, were in the bar, getting Olympic fever, watching the swimming and limbering up on the table football ahead of their match with the Once Upon A Smile charity team against Oldham Athletic Legends. www.onceuponasmile.org.uk
