Brain’s distinctive warm vocal and finger-picked guitar style are sustained alongside expansive strings and delicate piano arrangements, taking shape through evolving and introspective impressions on tenderness, loss, pain and awe in nature.
Steady Away further embeds Chris Brain within the contemporary folk scene, whilst gesturing towards the folk tradition. His commitment to folk is only deepened by the two folk clubs and folk festival in Leeds that Chris founded and runs, attracting a wide range of audiences and musicians alike.
Chris ignited a late blooming passion for music picking up the guitar at 17 which led on to trying his hand at busking where he honed his craft. With courage to leave convention and his full-time job, Chris soon learnt that he could earn more money busking to passers-by. This revelation took him on a 5-year journey travelling and embracing the streets and cities across Europe and the UK.
In the silence of lockdown, Chris birthed ‘Bound to Rise’ his debut album. Now seasoned by years of artistic exploration he stands ready to enter his latest creation ‘Steady Away’, a testament to growth and ingenuity.
