Once upon a time (last weekend) not far away, there was a bar that wowed everyone with it’s new cocktail menu.

Not too dissimilar to a Frances Hodgson Burnett novel, Elixir brings a sweet disposition, fairytale and alcohol into Manchester.

The new cocktail menu comes after an extremely successful first eight months. After ten weeks, the bar had been voted “Best Cocktail Bar 2014” by Design My Night Manchester and had hosted an X Factor wrap party by it’s second month.

Celeb and VIP Mancs of all kinds came and went to the “Garden of Earthly Delights” to discover the new and exciting things that Elixir had in store for it’s first summer.

As you might expect from a place that takes it’s ethos from the magical and medicinal healing of immortalising tonics, cocktails were inspired by things like butterflies swaying in the breeze. The resultant Flutterbye (£8) comprises of Stolichnaya citrus vodka, elderflower and rose liqueur, egg white and apple juice. It is garnished with edible ‘Mini Beasts’.

The flamboyant Forget-Me-Not was popular amongst the likes of Roxanne Palett and Jorgie Porter with it’s floral mix of violet liqueur, lavender syrup, cranberry & lemon juice accompanied by a chilled Prosecco miniature.

The vintage Volkswagen ‘Starchaser’ out front was alive with guests drinking their fabulous cocktails and taking photographs in daisy chains and bohemian props. Meanwhile inside, cocktail drinking continued in the secret powder room where pampering took place from celebrity HD brows master stylist Rachael Hall.

The response to the new menu has already thoroughly pleased owners Jess and Dan Purnell:

“We wanted to create something people would talk about and enjoy. For us the experience is everything and with the Garden of Earthly Delights menu you can get all the twists you desire.”

Head on over and check it out for yourself!
