The Festive Happening is a Manchester musical tradition. Returning to the Albert Hall on Sunday 9th December, this is one festive concert you won’t want to miss.

With gorgeous acoustics and a layout that ensures you can see what’s going on no matter how short you are – or how late you arrive – the Albert Hall is up there as one of our top Manchester music venues.

Flock down from the Christmas Markets after a few mulled wines and mince pies for world-class life-affirming music from our city’s most adventurous orchestra, Manchester Camerata, and their new partners the AMC Gospel Choir, who already proved themselves by bringing the gospel vibes last year and getting everyone dancing in their seats.

They’ll be performing excerpts from well-known traditional songs and other Christmas classics – including the Soulful Messiah, Away in a Manger and O Come, All Ye Faithful.

A group from the orchestra’s Camerata in the Community programme, The North West Stroke Community Choir, will also be there spreading the Christmas joy, with a special performance of brand new song Rise Up. The song was created especially for the show through a series of creative workshops in October and November 2018.

The North West Stroke Community Choir have worked with a Camerata composer and musician to write Rise Up, which is based around the theme of resilience and strength, drawing on their own experiences of stroke and the positive impact being a part of the choir has had on their own lives.

They have composed the lyrics, melodies and harmonies of this new piece, making it a song that truly represents them. It’s a performance not to be missed.

Balcony tickets for the Festive Happening are already sold out, but you can still purchase space in the stalls from £22.55.
