We love our Thai nosh here at I Love Manchester so we were delighted to check out Bankok Bar and Restaurant which is undergoing a re-boot.
“.AN EXOTIC AND FLAVOURFUL CAPSULE OF CULTURE, WITH WILD EVENTS, DELICIOUS CUISINE AND COCKTAILS TIL’ SUNRISE.”
We were treated to a veritable feast of authentic Thai food as part of an on-going kitsch celebration for their re-launch which includes what’s bound to go down in folklore as the best Full Moon Party this city has ever seen later tonight (we’ve already got beer fear!).
The casino-turned Thai venue on Princess Street houses is an exotic and flavourful capsule of culture, with wild events, delicious cuisine and cocktails til’ sunrise, according to the blurb and certainly the food we tasted was delish and occasionally hot hot hot.
As an experienced restaurateur and Thai culture ambassador, Bangkok’s owner, Krin Sirisambhand has perfected a fusion of East and West, creating the ultimate Thai Island experience, it adds.
Over to them and if we’re a bit quiet tomorrow, please don’t yell at us!
“Thai culture is all about happiness, enjoyment and living life to the full, and that’s what we do here at Bangkok Bar. We want our guest’s to feel as though they’re on holiday.” ?
The family-run restaurant cooks up a variety of knock out nosh, with a selection of Thai menus, from hot true traditional to scrumptious street style and A la Carte. Diners can revel in fresh, flamboyant food, diverse flavours and intricate floral detailing, with each delectable dish as pleasing to the eye as the palate.
Night owls can lap up cocktail hour all night long at the bar, with a 6am curfew come the weekend. The bespoke drinks menu is bursting with top-notch cocktails, zesty tipples and tropical twists, as well as Bangkok’s spicy signature, the chilli mojito served in buckets (we were wondering when this would make its way to MCR).
Bangkok also plays host to an eclectic set of exciting events, from hip-hop and soul to boxing and Thai cookery.
The venue is fully equipped for party prep, catering for VIP, corporate and private events. Complete with a stage, dance floor, karaoke set up and an array of dazzling disco lights.
Happy Mondays DJ Vince Vega and Manchester club runner Simon Bullows have recently rolled in to join the management team, packing with them an array of exciting party plans for the venue:
“We want to create a new bar club experience where people can eat, dance, drink and gamble, all under one roof. We want to move away from the city’s traditional clubs and restaurants and develop a unique venue with a cultural Thai theme – and a relaxed atmosphere, rather than that of a nightclub. We’re also looking to set up an all night private members bar in the New Year.”
Get set for a bright, booze-tastic bonanza of festive fun this Christmas, on December 19th. Bangkok is set to host its first Full Moon Party Spectacular.
Guests can leave the cold northern air behind and step into a sunshine paradise of bright lights, music and dance. Bangkok will be transformed into an exotic extravaganza, where partygoers can enjoy bucket cocktails, body paint, fire tricks and frolics. Entertainment will roll on throughout the night, with VIP schmoozing, all night dancing and a fabulous show from the beautiful boys of Bangkok.
Kirin expressed his excitement for the event:
“Full Moon Parties are all about friendship, freedom and fun, I want to recreate that carefree atmosphere with dance, music and laughter.” ?
Vince Vega also commented:
“I can’t wait for the party! People can get into the Thai theme and that’s what it’s all about – creating a new experience.”
