The regeneration of Ancoats continues with the addition of a new luxury hotel to join the raft of new bars and restaurants in the burgeoning Manchester district.

The stylish AC by Marriott Hotel has launched on Mason Street on the city centre outskirts – with spectacular views from the eight floors of bedrooms out to Ancoats and over the Northern Quarter.

The hotel launch comes amid the fast-paced development of Ancoats, which was last week hailed the 13th coolest place in the world by Time Out magazine, and boasts recent new restaurant openings including Mana, Sugo and Canto.

The purpose-built hotel, with 172 bedrooms, boasts a stylish new bar and restaurant serving a continental tapas menu and grill options, and a “European-inspired breakfast”.

Designers have aimed to combine elements of Manchester’s industrial past with contemporary European design for a “modern yet comfortable feel”.

“With its strong cultural heritage and design credentials, Manchester is a great match for the AC by Marriott brand,” said John Licence from Marriott International.

“The hotel provides guests with all the essentials they need – and nothing they don’t – creating a seamless, tranquil and frictionless experience, whether they’re travelling for business or leisure.”

The hotel’s 172 bedrooms, which include 30 deluxe doubles and 35 family rooms, incorporate neutral colour palettes ranging from deep grey to elegant creams, creating a modern sense of space inspired by the brand’s European heritage.

There are also function rooms on the ground floor that can cater for up to 120 guests.

The Spanish hotel brand also took over the former Ramada at Salford Quays to become the region’s first AC hotel.

The views from the upper floors are spectacular across the city – and book a superior double for a corner view which gives you a dual aspect of Ancoats and the Northern Quarter.

Bedrooms start at £89 for room only, or £101 for bed and breakfast.

And if you think the bedrooms look rather stark, that’s all part of the brand ethos for muted, sleek and classic design – with nothing cluttering up the spaces.

The venue is hosting a launch party on Thursday 15th November, but is now open for bookings.
