Honest Burgers, the gourmet burger chain famed for their no-frills 100% British beef patties made in their own butchery, burst onto Manchester’s dining scene back in 2019.
But this month it’s all about chicken, as Honest Burgers has teamed up with award-winning wing specialists Wingmans to bring back the Thai fried chicken burger.
Available until 9th August, the burger has returned to the menu by popular demand 16 months after its first drop was halted by the pandemic.
You can try the limited edition special at Honest’s Manchester restaurant on Bridge Street now.
Who are Wingmans?
Wingmans opened in Kilburn, London in 2018 following trading from gazebos at food markets and festivals since 2015, and has gone on to gain a cult following for their award-winning freshly dipped buttermilk wings tossed in homemade signature sauces.
They’re the wing provider for the NFL International Series at Wembley and Twickenham, and also regularly pop up at Glastonbury, British Summer Time, Big Feastival, Winter Wonderland, Notting Hill Carnival, Standon Calling and more.
Back in 2016 they competed in the UK WingFest and left double champions (Best Buffalo and Best Wild Wing). They came back in 2017 and 2018 to win the titles again.
Now, Honest has adapted their best-selling ‘Bang-coq’ wings into a juicy American fried chicken special with a Thai twist.
What’s on the Thai fried chicken burger?
The Thai fried chicken burger combines free-range buttermilk fried chicken thigh, honey sriracha glaze, Thai slaw, crispy shallots, American cheese, ranch mayo and lettuce for a sticky, sweet and spicy Thai-inspired burger that packs a punch.
Honest makes the honey sriracha glaze to Wingmans’ recipe, packing the sauce with Thai aromatics (kaffir lime leaves, coriander and lemongrass) and cooking it from scratch.
It takes them up to 24 hours to get the full flavour from the aromatics and balance the four flavour notes essential to Thai cooking: sweet, salty, sour and spicy.
Served with Honest’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips, the special comes in at £13.50 (eat-in) and is also available for delivery.
The Thai fried chicken burger is available until 9th August 2021 at Honest Burgers, Bridge Street, M3 3BT.
