I know what you’re thinking! No, they’re not getting rid of any gigs or club nights; they’re just improving other areas.
The Deaf Institute, an internationally recognised music venue in the heart of Manchester’s student area, has announced reduced opening hours over the summer months while it prepares for a re-launch, which will include a brand new food concept.
“open fully for business in the first week of September.”
The six -year old venue is part of the Trof family, which now includes Gorilla and Albert Hall, and is known as one of Manchester’s top music venues, hosting musicians and bands, such as The xx and Florence and the Machine, plus popular club nights, including Pop and Girls on Film.
For seven weeks The Deaf Institute will continue with its regular Friday and Saturday club nights and weekend gigs, plus additional mid week gigs that are in the events calendar. Opening hours will be from 4pm until close and a take out style burger menu will be available on these dates. The venue will only open when hosting an event, the rest of the time the venue will be closed.
The Deaf Institute will shortly announce further details about the new menu, which will see the end of the original Trof offering as well as some interior changes to the stunning venue.
Joel Wilkinson, owner of The Deaf Institute said: “Our customers are ready for something new and we are confident the exciting new food menu will be well received. We ask people to bear with us while work towards the re-launch and we will open fully for business in the first week of September. A further announcement sharing all of our plans will be made soon.
“We are keen to support the Universities long terms plans to bring more students and professionals to the area. By re-vamping The Deaf Institute, we are adding further excitement to their investment and providing another reason for people to be drawn towards Oxford Road for leisure purposes.”
