A pop-up gift shop which opened just in time for Christmas shopping has raised an amazing £10,000 for local community projects and good causes.

Community charity Forever Manchester opened gift emporium This Is The Place to sell Manchester-themed merchandise designed and donated by some of the city’s best creative talent, with proceeds going towards community activity across Greater Manchester.

“Given that we were only given the shop 10 days before we opened this is a fantastic achievement,” said Forever Manchester chief executive Nick Massey.

“Additionally, the positive feedback we’ve had from customers about the friendly service they experienced has given the Forever Manchester brand another welcome boost.

“All of the money raised for Forever Manchester is used to fund and support over 1,000 community projects in Greater Manchester each year and quite simply we can’t do this without the generous support of people like you.

“So from all of us here on Hewitt Street a massive thank you. I hope you have a very happy Christmas and a fulfilling 2020”.

The pop-up shop at 58 King Street, which took its name from the famous Manchester poem written by Tony Walsh for Forever Manchester, closed for business on 23rd November.

It was a festive extension of Forever Manchester’s successful online shop which has been running successfully for the last two years.

Many of the gifts which were available in the pop-up including products designed by local artists Stanley Chow, Factory Records designer Trevor Johnson and Middleton-based artist Justin Eagleton and a range of This is the Place merchandise containing these world famous words, can be purchased from the online shop.
