Award winning Brasilian barbecue restaurant group Cabana has opened in the newly redeveloped Corn Exchange building bringing their unique Brazilian spirit to Manchester.
The new 6,000 sq ft restaurant has 230 covers along with a dedicated caipirinha bar on the first floor, making it the ideal place to inject some South American sunshine into your life.
“An evening of
caipirinhas and
skewers, followed
by a Latin-inspired
party that got
people’s taste
buds tingling”
A VIP tasting evening last week saw Coronation Street stars Brooke Vincent and Catherine Tyldesley join friends for a fun evening of caipirinhas and skewers, followed by a Latin-inspired party that got people’s taste buds tingling and hips shaking. With sets from VIVA Ems and Rowetta on vocals, plus critically acclaimed DJ Lewis Robinson, the man behind Mais Um Discos – the Brazilian label representing the NEW sounds of Brazil – the party started early and lasted into the night.
Guests sampled an array of Cabana’s colourful barbecue skewers, including their best-selling spicy malagueta chicken and chilli and cumin cabana steak, as well as a selection of Brazilian street food snacks such as coxinhas (croquettes of shredded chicken and spices) and bolinhos(crunchy fried rice balls).
But it was the upstairs caipirinha bar where the party was really at, and with jugs of the Brasilian barbecue’s famous cocktails being served alongside Brazilian craft beers and wine, the hammocks were truly swinging.
Founded by charming restaurateurs Jamie Barber (Hush, Villandry, Sake No Hana) and Brazilian-born David Ponté (Momo), Cabana is expected to achieve sales of £15m this year and currently employs around 200 people in the UK. They are excited about opening in the city and getting to know the locals.
The new Corn Exchange restaurant serves Cabana’s best-selling, “killer” Spicy Malagueta Chicken (fans include Oprah Winfrey and the England rugby team) and Sweet Potato Fries, along with Brazilian street food and barbecue skewers grilled fresh to order.
The site also hosts a dedicated cocktail bar, offering customers authentic Brazilian cocktails, such as tropical fruit flavoured Caipirinhas (including the UK’s first frozen Caipirinhas) alongside an array of both exotic Brazilian concoctions and classic cocktails, making the Cabana bar the perfect place to party.
