Our beloved rainy city is home to two of the country’s finest football teams (currently arguable) and has more musical and cultural heritage than you can shake a maraca at – so this accolade isn’t surprising.

Manchester is the city in which you are most likely to get soaking wet through on the way to a Morrissey tribute act.

One thing we are now absolutely certain on, is that Manchester is the music capital of Britain.

Having produced the likes of The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Smiths and Elbow to name a few, we already know that Manchester is hallowed ground when it comes to popular music, but with new data revealed by Ticketmaster, we can now gloat about it with flawless evidence.

The evidence in question, according to Ticketmaster, is that Manchester has the most music venues per 100,000 people than anywhere else in the UK.

Outperforming Dundee, Inverness, Liverpool and Brighton, Manchester came out top in a recent Ticketmaster data pull.

The average number of music venues came out at a measly 2.1 per 100,000 populous, compared to a hercules seven in our own fine city.

Not only do we have the best music acts of all time, but we can now confirm that we also have the greatest number of venues in which to enjoy them.

See you at the gig.
