Cabana, the award-winning Brasilian barbecue restaurant and (Caipirinhas) cocktail bar, is opening in the Corn Exchange…

Manchester will be the second venture outside of London for the cheeky Brasilian barbecue. They currently have seven restaurants across London and one in Leeds, with plans to expand further this year.

“You’ve got
to try the Spicy
Malagueta Chicken
and frozen
Caipirinhas!
Very cheeky.”

The love, spirit and energy Cabana contains is certain to be well received in Mancunia. It’s democratic, all encompassing and what’s more will create more than 60 new jobs in the city.

In case you’re not familiar – and why should you be, unless you’ve been to the London or Leeds joints – Cabana is like an upmarket Nando’s or a Brazilian Wahaca and something Manchester’s never seen before. And I know what you’re thinking. Cabana is very different from Bem Brazil.

Founded by charming restaurateurs Jamie Barber (Hush, Villandry, Sake No Hana) and Brazilian-born David Ponté (Momo), Cabana is expected to achieve sales of £15m this year and currently employs around 200 people in the UK. They are excited about opening in the city and getting to know the locals.

The new 6,000 sq ft. restaurant will serve Cabana’s best-selling, “killer” Spicy Malagueta Chicken (fans include Oprah Winfrey and the England rugby team) and Sweet Potato Fries, along with Brazilian street food and barbecue skewers grilled fresh to order.

The site will also host a dedicated cocktail bar, offering customers authentic Brazilian cocktails, such as tropical fruit flavoured Caipirinhas (including the UK’s first frozen Caipirinhas) alongside an array of both exotic Brazilian concoctions and classic cocktails, making the Cabana bar the perfect place to party.

“The past three years have seen Cabana really take off, and, following the success of Cabana Leeds, we knew the time was right to continue expanding our Brasilian Barbecue offering beyond London,” says Jamie.

“Visiting Manchester, it was clear to us that the vibrant city would be the perfect spot to introduce our great music, great cocktails and great chicken.

“We can’t wait to introduce Cabana to the city, and hope it will become one of Manchester’s go-to destinations.”
