Taking the kids out for something to eat can sometimes be a bit of a palaver.

The problem? Finding a compromise between the classic McDonald’s happy meal and a fine dining restaurant where your kids will either be eating a la carte or nothing at all.

Multi-award winning Japanese restaurant Samsi sits bang in the middle. Well-loved in Manchester for its fine Japanese cuisine, the restaurant is somewhat of a local institution and has been at its Whitworth Street home since 1993.

It has been featured on Channel Four’s Richard and Judy and described as “fantastic” by Dragons’ Den mogul Duncan Bannatyne.

The decor is stylish and minimal downstairs with a semi-private, highly authentic sunken ‘seiza’ seating area raised on another level. This sunken seating area is adorned with blossoming cherry bonsais and folding wooden screens, transporting you straight from Manchester to Tokyo.

The menu selection is well balanced with a range of Japanese delights from their super fresh, extensive sushi selection to hot favourites such as Katsu curry and big, warming bowls of ramen.

The restaurant has also just released a dedicated kids menu for its little Samsi customers.

If your child is under 12 and you’re dining between midday and 5pm Monday to Sunday, to celebrate the new menu’s arrival, kids can eat for free this August – leaving you more money to spend on high-grade sushi. A win-win in our books.

Let them choose from karage chicken, vegetable tempura or chicken yakisoba served with noodles or rice as you tuck into your own Japanese feast. The kids menu even includes a soft drink for no extra charge. You can’t argue with that.

Next time you’re looking for a venue for a family meal, give Samsi a try. Not only is the food great quality and delicious, but the team will go that extra mile to make sure your whole group has the most fantastic experience.

It’s well worth a visit.
