The biggest issue: have your say on Manchester’s homelessness problem

It’s Manchester’s biggest issue. And it’s getting worse.
The number of people sleeping on our city streets has quadrupled in the last five years. Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has called it ‘a humanitarian crisis’.
There are many organisations doing a lot of good work to alleviate the problem.
One of them is People of the Streets, a social enterprise currently running an exhibition in Manchester Arndale of photos taken by people experiencing homelessness, together with their stories.
The Stories of the Streets exhibition, which ends today, showcases over 250 photos taken by homeless people in the city, with money from each print sold going directly to support the individual photographer.
People of the Streets believe there is a need for a new public conversation about homelessness.
Join them on Tuesday evening for the first of these conversations, led by some of the city’s leading experts on the key issues, along with people currently experiencing homeless, and members of the public.
Ask questions, share ideas, and learn how approaches to homelessness that focus on addressing alienation, not just on delivering resources, could be a part of the solution.
It’s free but please register if you want to attend.
